Ex-Indian bowler Zaheer Khan backs Rohit Sharma to lead by example, just like the World Cup

Former bowler of Indian cricket team Zaheer Khan has placed full faith in skipper Rohit Sharma and said that the latter would play a key role in the Test series against England. He went on to add that Rohit will lead by example with the bat, which would be detrimental for the series.

Zaheer said, “That has been the hallmark of his captaincy, and he leads from the front as seen in the World Cup. He walks the talk. When you have a leader walking the talk, it gives you better efficiency within the whole group. So, I think he’s a proven leader.”

Rightly so, Rohit, with his blistering knocks at the World Cup, put India in commanding situations early on in the match. Zaheer feels that could be the ploy once more from the Indian skipper.

Zaheer added, “You’ve seen him adapt nicely in England when it came to leaving the ball... You’ve seen that in Chennai, when he played a match-defining knock. Winning the toss, batting first, getting the opposition completely out in the first inning, and being instrumental in that is something that gives satisfaction to any player playing at the highest level.”
