After throwing his hat in the selection ring, Ajit Agarkar quits the IPL franchise, the Delhi Capitals

Ajit Agarkar, who is the frontrunner for the Indian chief selector job, quit his assistant coach post with the IPL franchise Delhi Capitals on Thursday. With the name of Agarkar on the list, BCC might have to increase the annual salary of Rs 1 crore, which is offered to the chairman of the selectors, and Rs 90 lakh for the other members of the panel. As an assistant coach with the Delhi Capitals and as a commentator, he earns more than the current annual package of the chief selector.

Delhi Capitals confirm that Agarkar will no longer continue as the support staff of Delhi Capitals, along with former all-rounder Shane Watson, of Australia's cricket team.

DC Tweeted, "You will always have a place to call home here. Thank you, Ajit and Watto, for your contributions. All the very best for your future endeavours."
