Ishan Kishan is named as the replacement for KL Rahul in the WTC India Squad

On Monday, the BCCI announced Ishan Kishan as the replacement of KL Rahul in India’s World Test Championship finals match against the Australia cricket team. Ishan has yet to play a test match for India. He was earlier named in the Border Gavaskar trophy squad but didn’t get any game. He has played around 48 first-class games and scored around 2985 runs at an average of 38.76. The left-handed batsman has accounted for around 99 catches and 11 stumpings in his first-class cricket career till now.


In the ongoing season of IPL 2023, he has registered around 293 runs in the 10 matches he has played till now at an average of 29.30 with two half centuries. In the absence of KL Rahul because of his thigh injury, Kishan has been kept as a second wicketkeeper, as KS Bharat has been kept as the first. Jaydev Unadkat and Umesh Yadav, who also suffered injuries in the ongoing IPL 2023 season, have also been included in the squad. The finals of WTC will be played on June 7 at the Oval in London.
