Dhoni's unacceptable act is criticised after a heated chat with umpires over Pathirana

On Tuesday evening, MS Dhoni added another milestone to his legacy as he guided the Chennai Super Kings to their 10th IPL final. The four-time IPL winners defeated defending champions Gujarat Titans by 15 runs.

However, the journey is not yet over for the titles; they are going to get another chance to meet CSK at the finals if they manage to defeat the winners of the eliminator match between Lucknow Super giants and Mumbai Indians in their next encounter, i.e., Qualifier 2.

MS Dhoni, as usual, was spot on with most of his on-field decisions, but there was one particular incident that did not go well with the fans and also with the batting legend Sunil Gavaskar, who had taken the autograph of Dhoni on his shirt a few days earlier.

The incident took place before the 15th over of the Gujarat chase, when Dhoni was seen engaged in a discussion with the umpire. Although it was not very clear at the start, later on it was pointed out by many that it was a deliberate time-wasting strategy by the captain of the Chennai Super Kings. Pathirana was getting ready to bowl his second over but was not allowed by the umpire because he had not been on the field for the same amount of time as he had been off it.

After this, Dhoni kept the umpire engaged until the time elapsed as other CSK players surrounded the officials. They held up play for around 4 minutes before Pathirana was allowed to bowl again. While reacting to this incident, Gavaskar said, “You accept the umpire’s decision. Even if the umpire gets it wrong sometimes in high-pressure situations,”
