Watch Thala MS Dhoni, facilitated by Boss N Srinivasan, before his 200th game for CSK

MS Dhoni walked down the aisle for the 200th time as captain for Chennai Super Kings when he took the field against Rajasthan Royals today in the India Premier League season 2023. Notably, Dhoni completed his 200 matches as a captain during the 2021 edition of the IPL against the Royals and became the first man to do so. 

But at that time, the wicketkeeper and batsman MS Dhoni also captained the Rising Pune Supergiant in the 2016 edition of the Indian Premier League. This time, Dhoni will complete the historic double as the captain of only the Chennai Super Kings and thus become the first captain in the history of the IPL to lead a franchise for the 200th time. Therefore, he was felicitated by the owner of CSK, N. Srinivasan, before his milestone match.


He has been the captain of the franchise since the start of the IPL, which was in the 2008 season. Since then, he has led the franchise for around 199 matches in over 14 seasons. He holds a vast number of records and is the second-most successful captain in the history of the IPL, winning four trophies.
