Rahul Tripathi and Mayank Markande help SRH bag their first win of IPL season 2023

Sunrisers Hyderabad registered there first win in the Indian premier league season 2023 by defeating Punjab kings by 8 wickets at Uppal stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday.  Leg spinner Mayank Markande, playing his first match of the season, took 4 wickets while giving 15 runs as Punjab King got restricted to 143 at the loss of 9 wickets, and this total was made possible by captain Shikhar Dhawan's remarkable 99 out of 66 balls and Rahul Tripathi's unbeaten 74 out of 48 balls, which helped SRH ease to victory, reaching their target in 17.1 overs only.

Punjab Kings had some momentum heading into the break but needed wickets in the powerplay to put Hyderabad under pressure. The host decided to play England batsman Harry Brook, who scored 13 runs out of three balls and lost his wicket. Mayank Agarwal could not capitalise on his start either, as the Punjab kings built pressure with disciplined bowling. Hyderabad were in danger as they needed 98 runs off 68 balls.



But Tripathi, who took his time to settle down, switched gears and helped SRH cruise to victory. Markram also showed restraint initially before picking up the pace.
