More misery for the RCB after a close defeat against the Lucknow super giants

For sustaining a slow over rate against Lucknow Super giants in IPL 2023, RCB have been fined. Captain Faf du Plessis has been fined Rs 12 lakhs because it was the team’s first infraction of the year under the IPL’s Code of Conduct regarding minimum over-rate offences.

Avesh Khan of Lucknow's super giants has also received criticism for transgressing the rule of conduct. He accepted the punishment after admitting to the level 1 offence (2.2 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct). The Match Referee’s determination regarding Level 1 Code of Conduct violations is final and binding.


IPL organisers said in a statement on late Monday night that "The Royal Challengers Bangalore have been fined for maintaining a slow overrate during their TATA Indian Premier League 2023 match 15 against the Lucknow Super Giants at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, on Monday." "As it was the team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, captain Faf du Plessis was fined Rs 12 lakhs."

They also added that "Lucknow Super Giants’ Avesh Khan has been reprimanded for breaching the Code of Conduct." Mr. Avesh admitted to level 1 offence 2.2 of IPL’s Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction. "For level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the match referee’s decision is final and binding."
